Atreyos is a Spearton in Stick War: Legacy. Appearing as a playable unit in the Endless Deads game mode, he is the leader of the traveling Order group that went sour after Deads attacked. Atreyos returns in Stick War: Saga as a General, serving Order as the leader of the Speartons. Atreyos is also the youngest of the Royal Siblings. Atreyos is also twins with Adicai, being 10 seconds younger.
If Atreyos survives 10 nights in Endless Deads, the Player can win the Atreyos Lives! achievement.
Appearance[]
In Stick War: Legacy, Atreyos appears as a Spearton with a Level 2 shield and a Level 1 spear. Atreyos does not change his equipment if you upgrade your Speartons past Atreyos' equipment level, opting instead to keep his old gear. While Atreyos wears a red cape in the opening cutscene of Endless Deads, he does not have it as an in-game unit.
In Stick War: Saga, Atreyos keeps his gear from the original game and now wears the cape on his in-game sprite. His equipment shows signs of wear akin to his depiction in Endless Deads, as his helmet and shield are dented and his cape is tattered, and a noticeable gash can be seen on his helmet's eye hole. However, his character artwork and the main menu portray him with his equipment still pristine.
Etymology[]
"Atreyos" is likely derived from Atreus, a king of Mycenae in Greek Mythology. He was the namesake for the Atreid dynasty of Sparta and the father of Menelaus, who was King of Sparta and husband to Helen of Troy.
History[]
Endless Deads[]
During the Order's hike across a stretch of forest area, rain began to pour down onto their supplies. Atreyos, the caravan's presumed leader, a Magikill, a Swordwrath, and an Archidon tell the rest of the workers to set up camp here. Miners and other members of the caravan go off to gather resources, and it seems all is well.
The elder Magikill sits down and tries to start a small fire but is ambushed by a Dead. In his old age, the Magikill struggles to break free from the dead's grip, however this gives the Archidon enough time to launch an arrow through the undead's head. When the Swordwrath comes to Magikill's aid, trying to help him back up, two more dead rise from the ground and attack the pair. The Magikill is bitten in the arm, but the Swordwrath manages to avoid the Deads with only a small injury.
Atreyos and the Archidon are having no trouble killing the incoming Deads, but Atreyos turns to see their elder Magikill lying dead on the ground, and howls at their loss. Now it leaves Atreyos and his friends to fight the incoming hordes. When you lose you see Atreyos on the statue without a shield. It is most likely that the Swordwrath and the Archidon both died and Atreyos is next since it only takes under a minute for the Deads to break the statue if there was no one defending the statue.
Likewise if the player manages to hold out until Night 10, it can be assumed that the Order caravan successfully evacuated with Atreyos surviving evident by the "Atreyos Lives!" achievement. It might be canonical that Atreyos survives the mission as he is seen appearing in later games with the latest being in "Stick war: Saga" as a playable unit, with much the same appearance as he had in Endless Deads.
Stick War: Saga[]
This article or section contains significant spoilers. |
According to an article by The Inamorta Informer after beating Mera in Level 26, Atreyos unexpectedly returns after years of being gone from the Order, to the point where many feared he had perished before his return. The same article questions why he returned and if he will stay, as well as what it would mean for the future of the Order throne.
It is unknown exactly why he disappeared and what happened to him during the years when he was gone, although it is likely connected to his role in Endless Deads.
In Level 35, Atreyos appears as an ally general and helps the Player fight Wrathnar and then the Lunarclops. After defeating them, Zilaros meets him again and says he's glad to have him. Atreyos angrily tells him that he "never had him" and never will, before running off. This may imply that Atreyos is aware of Zilaros' true nature, given how abnormal his reaction is.
Abilities[]
Stand In[]
This ability is given to Atreyos in Stick War: Saga. Armory Level 2 research is required to unlock this ability.
At Atreyos's command, all allied Speartons in the front line will perform a shield bash that deals 50 damage and stuns any enemy hit, and then step back to let backline Speartons forward. All allied Speartons then gain increased movement speed and 100% increased attack speed for 8 seconds.
Spearton Spirits and Speartons converted by Bewitch are not affected by Stand In. Atreyos and Spearos do not shield bash, but do gain the speed bonus.
Cooldown: 20 seconds
