Bewitch, previously Proselytism, is an Upgrade and ability introduced in Stick War III.
Description[]
Upgrade[]
Unlocks the Bewitch ability on the Meric. Decreases the cost of Merics by 25%.
Ability[]
The caster continuously channels on an enemy unit, casting a red beam on the target. Once the channeling completes, the targeted unit is permanently converted to the side of the caster. The channeling time depends on the maximum health of the targeted unit. Stunning or killing the caster before the channeling completes will interrupt the ability. It will also be interrupted if the unit moves a certain distance away from the caster.
Bewitch must be continuously cast until the conversion completes in order to steal a unit; if interrupted (either by stuns, exceeding its max range, or by stopping the channeling), it goes on cooldown without effect. Bewitch's cooldown begins when it completes or is interrupted, rather than when it is initially cast.
Notes[]
- Cannot target Generals.
- Converted units will be restored to full health.
- Converted units retain all bonuses granted by Upgrades, but not Enchantments.
- Converted units are uncontrollable and are permanently set on an attack command. However, they can be user controlled.
- Units converted by Bewitch take up Population and can cause a player to go above the population cap.
- Successfully converting a unit with Bewitch will trigger on-death effects like Mana Burst.
Appearances[]
Vampiric Magikill use this ability in the Daily Missions Unholy Pact and A Shocking Alliance. The version used by the Vampiric Magikill does not require research, cannot be broken by distance, and can target Generals. If a General is converted, the original is killed instantly and will return to base, and an exact copy is created for the caster's controller. The copy can respawn when killed like the original, and a health bar is shown on-screen while the copy is active.
Merics of the Vampiric Soulstealers research and use this ability in Stages 23, 24, and 26.

Trivia[]
- Its old name, "Proselytism", is the act of making a person change their political or religious beliefs, often forcibly.
- The new name, "Bewitch", either means to cast a spell over a person or enchant and delight someone.
- Interestingly, when a Dead is converted, even if it was trained, it uses the rising animation as if it was summoned via the Summoning Staff or Rune of Reanimation.
- Although Bewitch in Version 2024.3693 was made unusable, if you had it in your deck before updating, you would still be able to upgrade and utilize this ability.
- Eventually, even if you had Bewitch, it was rendered unusable.
