–Xiphos to Spearos, Stick War: Saga | ||
Xiphos (who was previously known as Skodik), is a character in the Stick War series. A member of the Royal Siblings, Xiphos rose to power as the leader of the Swordwrath, defeating and succeeding General Wrathnar in the Trials of Superiority (possibly).
He is one of the playable Generals in Stick War: Saga.
Appearance[]
Xiphos is a stick figure with 2 vertical blue stripes on his right eye, with the right stripe being segmented while the left stripe has no interuptions. He wears a brown glove on his right hand and wields a sword with a gold ornamented crossbar and a gold square-like pommel on his left hand. Xiphos also wears a blue cape and a golden pauldron, attached to his body via a leather strap.
On the earlier versions of Stick War: Saga, Xiphos wears a golden helmet and jewel-decorated sword, and thus looks much like a fully upgraded Swordwrath in Stick War: Legacy. By Its release, Xiphos has changed his equipment to his current, more unique design.
Etymology[]
The xiphos is a double-edged, one-handed Iron Age straight shortsword used by the ancient Greeks. It was a secondary battlefield weapon for the Greek armies after the dory or javelin. "Xiphos" has since also been used as a Greek word for swords in general.
Abilities[]
Heroic Leap[]
Xiphos leaps into combat, dealing 40 AOE damage and stunning up to 2 enemies in impact area and knock up into air. Heroic Leap uses a similar draw-and-release targeting as ranged unit attacks; the further back the control stick is drawn, the farther he leaps.
Cooldown: 20 seconds
Bladebreaker[]
Xiphos blocks attacks briefly with his sword. If he successfully blocks an attack this way, his next attack deals bonus damage equal to 25% of the target's current health. Bonus damage is greatly reduced against Statues.
Xiphos does not use this ability while AI-controlled.
Cooldown: 10 seconds
Rage[]
Requires Temple Level 1 research to unlock. Increases the attack speed and movement speed of all allied Light units (same effect as the spell of the same name). Does not affect Xiphos himself.
Xiphos does not use this ability while AI-controlled.
Cooldown: 45 seconds.
Passive ability[]
Way of the Sword[]
While Xiphos is active, Swordwrath train 25% faster and have their cost reduced by 10% (from 125 to 112 Gold).
Uppercut[]
Every 3rd consecutive attack by Xiphos deals an additional 60% damage and launches the target into the air. The attack counter is reset if Xiphos moves.
Notes[]
- When he enters the battlefield he can say: "Ready!", "Okay!", and "Ready for war!".
Trivia[]
- Xiphos was originally shipped with Kytchu among the fanbase until CrazyJay revealed that they were in fact siblings.
- In the "Voltaic Revolt Overpowered" scene, there's a note that says "Xiphos birthday Bash" where Zarek stops everything to celebrate his son's birthday.
- Xiphos is the only general to receive a name change (from Skodik to Xiphos) and one of two units to receive a name change, with the other being Bombers.
- Xiphos' voice noticeably changes from when he talks to Spearos to Mera. When he talks to Spearos, it is youthful and soft, while when he speaks to Mera, it is deeper and coarse. This may demonstrate the years passing throughout the campaign and/or him getting older and having a change of personality, or war torn
- Ironically, Xiphos' sword is not Xiphos, as a Xiphos is a one handed weapon
- Perhaps Xiphos is so strong because of Mera's blessing.
- 1) Mera says: I helped your mother raise you.
- 2) The description says: blessed with the straight of the gods.
- From this it follows that he was possibly Iris's favorite son because it was for him that she asked for a blessing.
- In the new versions, Xiphos' cape seems to be strangely big.
- In the artwork and the early sprites, Xiphos has his shoulder armor and glove on his right hand, while holding his sword on the left hand. But the offical art and the in-game unit describe Xiphos wearing his shoulder armor and holding his sword on the right side with his glove on the left side.
